GIS has the ability to connect a wide range of data at a given point on Earth, combining, analyzing and finally map the results. Especially in Riau Islands, the absence of information systems in the form of a website or application of geographic information systems to provide news or information about the outer islands in the Riau Islands. Thus in the wake of geographic information systems in the outer islands of Riau archipelago aims for the public or users of the website to know the whereabouts or where the location and what kind of picture of the outer islands. Geographic Information Systems Outer Islands of Riau Islands is a website that uses GIS Quantum GIS and ArcGIS application. The results of the Outer Islands Geographic Information System Riau Islands is the user can see the overview mapping of the outer islands in the Riau archipelago and know that there is information or news about the island. SIG mempunyai kemampuan untuk menghubungkan berbagai data pada suatu titik tertentu di bumi, menggabungkannya, menganalisa dan akhirnya memetakan hasilnya. Khususnya di Kepulauan Riau, belum adanya sistem informasi yang berbentuk website atau aplikasi sistem informasi geografis untuk memberikan berita atau informasi tentang pulau terluar di Kepulauan Riau. Maka dari itu di bangunlah sistem informasi geografis di pulau terluar kepulauan riau bertujuan untuk masyarakat atau pengguna website bisa tahu keberadaan atau dimana letak dan seperti apa gambaran pulau terluar tersebut. Sistem Informasi Geografis Pulau Terluar Kepulauan Riau ini merupakan website berupa GIS yang menggunakan applikasi quantum GIS dan ArcGIS. Hasil dari Sistem Informasi Geografis Pulau Terluar Kepulauan Riau ini adalah pengguna dapat melihat gambaran pemetaan pulau terluar di kepulauan riau dan mengetahui informasi atau berita yang ada tentang pulau tersebut.
