Abstract

Abstract-The automotive spare parts industry faces significant challenges in ensuring product quality, particularly regarding pinhole issues (Product Safety/PS) in the coil winding process at PT Panasonic Industrial Devices Batam. Pin holes critically impact final product quality and machine performance. This study aims to identify and analyze the root causes of pin holes using the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method. By mapping the relationship between the main failure events and contributing factors, the analysis examined wire insulation quality, tension, machine conditions, cleaning methods, and process temperatures. Results indicate that the primary root causes include damaged insulation layers, machine abnormality such as scratches on parts contacting the wire and external factors like contamination and improper storage. Proposed solutions include stricter material quality control, recalibrating machine parameters, and environmental maintenance to reduce lost costs and enhance preventive measures.
