Analysis of Torque Effect on Control Block Housing Integrity

| dc.description.abstract | This study investigates the impact of tightening torque variations on the structural integrity of Control Block Housing at PT Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam. Inconsistent torque application has been identified as a primary driver of fastening defects, including material cracking, loose screws, and gap misalignments, which compromise product reliability and operational efficiency. A quantitative experimental approach integrated with Statistical Process Control (SPC) was employed to analyze and optimize the assembly process. Torque data were collected from 50 samples using a digital torque meter, centered on a target specification of 1.00 Nm with a tolerance of ±0.10 Nm. Initial assessments revealed a non-capable process with a Cpk of 0.33 and a high defect rate of 20%, predominantly caused by under-torque conditions. Following the implementation of optimized torque settings and enhanced monitoring protocols, the process capability significantly improved, achieving a Cpk of 1.33 and reducing the defect rate to 6%. These results demonstrate that SPC-based optimization effectively stabilizes torque application, ensures fastening integrity, and fosters continuous quality improvement. This research provides a scalable framework for enhancing production efficiency and product performance within the semiconductor and electronic manufacturing sectors. | |
