Abstract
Many residential buildings operate elevator systems without access control mechanisms that restrict users from selecting unauthorized floors. Such unrestricted access may lead to potential security and privacy issues for building occupants. This research presents the development of an RFID-based authorization system designed to regulate elevator access at Green Kost, a residential building consisting of four floors. The proposed system employs RFID cards as user identification devices, an MFRC522 module to read the card data, and an Arduino Uno microcontroller that performs the authentication process and controls elevator floor activation through a relay module. Each RFID card registered in the system is associated with specific floor permissions, ensuring that users are only able to reach floors for which they have authorization. In this implementation, access to floors 2, 3, and 4 requires RFID verification, while floor 1 remains freely accessible as part of a fail-safe operational design. Experimental evaluation indicates that the system operates consistently with an average authentication response time of approximately 0.5 seconds, demonstrating its capability to restrict unauthorized elevator access effectively
