Abstract
The wrapping machine is an essential production machine that plays an important role in maintaining packaging quality. Failure of the 5 HP AC motor increased machine downtime, reduced wrapping quality, and decreased production efficiency. This study aims to identify the main causes of machine failure and determine appropriate corrective actions using the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method. The analysis was conducted using downtime data collected before and after motor replacement, followed by the calculation of the Risk Priority Number (RPN) to prioritize corrective actions. The results showed that replacing the 5 HP AC motor and implementing a monitoring checksheet successfully reduced total downtime from 365 minutes to 100 minutes, representing a 73% improvement, while the RPN of the main failure mode decreased from 252 to 54. These corrective actions and routine monitoring effectively improved machine reliability, reduced failure risk, and enhanced production efficiency.
