Abstract
The demand for electrical energy sources is increasing, but in propotion to the
increasing number of energy sources, therefore efficiency is needed so that the
electrical energy produced from a generator can be maximized. One of the
electrical energy generators in Batam is the gas engine power plant (PLTMG).
Maxpower Panaran. PLTMG Maxpower Panaran has 18 synchronous generator
units, Panaran 1 unit with an output power of 25 MW and Panaran 2 unit with an
output power of 25 MW. PLTMG Maxpower Panaran uses the LEANOX Control
method, where the engine is supplied by a gas mixture with surplus air which then
enters the combustion chamber, the result of the combustion process pushing the
piston in the engine cylinder. This piston movement produces mechanical energy.
The gas engine shaft is coupled to the generator shaft so that the output power
from the gas engine is the input power to the generator. To determine the
performance of the synchronous generator at PLTMG, it is necessary to know the
efficiency of the generator. From the results of the analysis carried out, it was
obtained that the efficiency of the synchronous generator based on specification
data in unit 7 was 97,93 % and in unit 3 it was 97,66 % and based on log sheet data
it was obtained that the average efficiency of the synchronous generator in unit 7
was 90,35 % and unit 3 of 87,43 %
