Abstract
Component orientation discrepancies across vendors in the Approved Vendor List (AVL) within the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) area of a manufacturing company result in manual validation processes that generate non-value-added activities, delayed information flow, and potential production downtime. This study aims to design and analyze a web-based Multi-Vendor Component Orientation Validation System to improve the efficiency of the validation and production processes. The system was developed using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, featuring orientation management per Manufacturer Part Number (MPN), automated workflow triggers, automatic notifications, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). The impact of system implementation was analyzed using Value Stream Mapping (VSM) by comparing the Current State and Future State. The results show that system implementation successfully reduced cycle time from 165 minutes to 17.22 minutes and reduced lead time from 1,695 minutes to 17.22 minutes. Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) increased from 9.73% to 100%, while waiting activities and non-value-added manual processes were significantly eliminated. These findings indicate that digitalizing the component orientation validation process can improve information flow efficiency, accelerate the validation process, and support the smoothness of SMT production.
