Abstract
The development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology enables real-time
monitoring and control of devices through efficient internet connectivity. This study
aims to design and implement an IoT device monitoring and control system
integrated with a Human Machine Interface (HMI) based on MQTT (Message
Queuing Telemetry Transport) communication. The system consists of six IoT
devices, including water level monitoring, mini weather station, temperature and
humidity monitoring, air quality monitoring, motion detector, and power
consumption monitoring. Each device uses an ESP32 microcontroller as the main
control and an MQTT broker as the data communication link. Based on the MQTT
broker performance analysis, the average message load rate was 6.0–6.2 msg/s and
the average delivery time was 1000 ms, indicating that the MQTT protocol has high
efficiency and low latency in data transmission. This system provides the benefits
of easy centralized monitoring and control of devices and can be applied to
smarthome implementations and medium-scale IoT systems. The success rate of this
task in monitoring and controlling devices reached 100%, as demonstrated by the
ability of the entire system to operate according to its designed functions. All IoT
devices were able to send and receive data through stable MQTT communication,
as well as display monitoring information and perform control functions in real
time on the HMI interface..
