Abstract

The rapid growth of information technology has significantly increased the risk of cyber threats, including doxing, which involves collecting and disseminating an individual's personal information without consent. University students are among the most active internet and social media users, making them vulnerable to such threats. This study aims to analyze the level of information security awareness among students of Politeknik Negeri Batam in dealing with doxing attacks using the Human Aspects of Information Security Questionnaire (HAIS-Q). A quantitative descriptive approach was employed with active students as respondents. Information security awareness was measured based on the Knowledge, Attitude, and Behaviour dimensions across four domains: Password Management, Internet Use, Information Handling, and Social Media Use. The findings indicate that the overall information security awareness level reached 74.19%, categorized as Moderate. Among the three dimensions, Attitude obtained the highest score, followed by Knowledge, while Behaviour recorded the lowest score. These results indicate that although students understand the importance of protecting personal information and demonstrate positive attitudes toward cybersecurity, the implementation of secure practices remains inadequate. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for higher education institutions in developing cybersecurity awareness programs to reduce the risk of doxing.
