Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (K3) is an important aspect in reducing the potential for accidents in high-risk work environments. This research uses a descriptive analysis method with the HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) approach which aims to identify hazards and carry out risk assessments in heavy equipment maintenance and repair work activities. The research results show that the main potential hazards are in welding, painting and installation activities cylinder boom on excavator. Welding and painting activities fall into the category risk trivial until moderate risk, while the installation cylinder boom including moderate risk until substantial risk. Occupational risks are influenced by unsafe behavior, non compliance with PPE use, and work area conditions that are not fully safe. The main factors causing high risks are non-compliance with PPE use, unsafe work areas, and the absence of HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) documentation. This study recommends strengthening supervision of PPE use, preparing HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) documents formal, implementation engineering control, as well as updates SOP in high-risk activities. With this implementation, companies are expected to reduce accident rates and improve their work safety culture.
