Abstract

The manual visitor registration process in the manufacturing industry is prone to data loss and causes long queues at the security post. Furthermore, verbal safety inductions are considered ineffective in enforcing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures. This study aimed to design a User Interface (UI) prototype for a mobile-based Visitor Management System (VMS) application that mandates visitors to watch a safety induction video before the system simulates the issuance of a dummy QR Code for access. The design process utilized the Design Thinking method, encompassing Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test stages. The final output is an interactive high-fidelity prototype developed using Figma. System evaluation was conducted on 10 target respondents (Visitors and Approvers) using two instruments. The objective evaluation achieved a Task Success Rate (TSR) of 84.4%. Furthermore, the subjective evaluation using the System Usability Scale (SUS) obtained an average score of 77.75, categorized as Good (Grade B) with an Acceptable rating. These results demonstrate that the VMS UI prototype successfully simulates the resolution of manual registration issues, supports visitor compliance with safety procedures, and provides a highly intuitive interface.
