Abstract

PT XYZ faces challenges in improving the quality of basic soldering training for manual operators. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of video media as a basic soldering training material. Using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), this study involved 30 training participants. The validation result showed excellent feasibility ratings from media experts (92%) and material experts (94%). Effectiveness testing was conducted using a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. Data analysis using the Shapiro-Wilk test showed normal distribution with significance values of 0.058 for pretest and 0.017 for posttest. Paired t-test results revealed a significant improvement between pretest (63.0) and posttest (80.3) mean scores with a significance value of <0.001 (p<0.05). This study concludes that the use of video media is effective in enhancing trainees understanding of manual soldering standard procedures at PT XYZ.
