Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has encouraged educational institutions to adopt digital systems to improve service quality and communication effectiveness. One of the essential needs in the school environment is the availability of an effective medium to accommodate students’ aspirations, complaints, and suggestions in a structured and transparent manner. This study aims to design and develop a web-based School Digital Aspiration and Complaint System equipped with an aspiration voting feature as a tool to determine the priority of student inputs at SMK Negeri 8 Batam. The system development employed the Waterfall method, which consists of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance stages. System design was carried out using Use Case Diagrams and Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD) to model user interactions and database structures. The system was implemented using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL as the database, with XAMPP as the local server environment. System testing was conducted using the black-box testing method to ensure that all system functionalities operated according to user requirements. The testing results indicate that all main system features, including user login, aspiration submission, aspiration voting, and session management, functioned properly. Therefore, the developed system is considered feasible as a digital medium for managing and analyzing student aspirations and complaints effectively, transparently, and systematically.
