Abstract
Waste of Blue is an Android based survival arcade game with an ocean theme that highlights the Indonesian marine ecosystem and environmental issues related to marine waste. In this game, players take on the role of a piece of waste disguised as a fish, with the objective of collecting as much waste as possible to achieve a high score within a limited time while avoiding sharks that have mutated into waste. This research focuses on the design of 3D assets and environments by emphasizing aesthetic visual quality, medium-level detail, and performance efficiency through the application of a Toon Shader style. The research employed the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, which consists of the stages of concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. The implementation of Toon Shader was intended to enhance visual consistency, improve asset readability, and create a stylized visual identity that supports the game's environmental theme. Evaluation was conducted through observation and interviews involving three validators consisting of practitioners and academics in the field of game art and visual design. The evaluation results indicated that the designed assets and environments achieved satisfactory levels of visual clarity, stylistic consistency, color harmony, and environmental representation. Furthermore, the designed visual elements are expected to support an immersive gameplay experience while effectively conveying environmental messages regarding the impact of waste on marine ecosystems.
