Penerapan Teknik Primary dan Secondary Color Grading Pada Video Profil Politeknik Negeri Batam

Abstract

Institutional profile videos require consistent visual quality to effectively communicate information and represent institutional identity. Variations in lighting conditions and color between shots can reduce visual consistency and affect the overall appearance of a video. This study aims to apply primary grading and secondary grading techniques to develop a modern and professional visual style for the Politeknik Negeri Batam profile video. The development process adopts the Villamil–Molina method, consisting of the development, preproduction, production, postproduction, and delivery stages. Color processing is carried out using DaVinci Resolve, where primary grading is applied to adjust color space, exposure, contrast, saturation, and white balance, while secondary grading is used to refine selected colors and image areas to strengthen the intended visual character. At the time of writing, the research is still in the postproduction stage, particularly in completing the implementation of primary and secondary grading. Therefore, alpha testing has not yet been conducted. The evaluation instruments, assessment method, and data analysis have been prepared and will be implemented after the final product is completed to assess visual quality and support the refinement of the profile video before its use as a promotional and branding medium for Politeknik Negeri Batam at Pagelaran Vokasi 2026.
