Abstract
This research examines the application of the 12 Principles of Animation in
the production of animated films, as well as the use of 3D animation pipeline
in the project workflow. The focus of this research is the application of these
two components to a 3D animation film entitled “Laut Kite”, which will be
analyzed to determine whether the quality of the animation produced meets
industry standards. The purpose of this research is to examine the feasibility
and animation quality of the short animation film “Laut Kite” in terms of the
application of 12 animation principles and the use of industrial workflows such
as 3D animation pipelines that support the production workflow. In this
research, the method used is descriptive qualitative with the analysis model of
Miles and Huberman. Data collection was conducted through in-depth
interviews with expert resource persons and compiled in the form of validation
tables. The results of the research showed two key components in working on
a 3D animation project. First, the application of the 12 Principles of Animation
that improves the quality of animation movement and composition. Second,
the use of 3D animation pipeline that ensures quality consistency through
efficiency and cohesiveness in the production process. In conclusion, the
animated film “Laut Kite” has a good animation movement quality and is
suitable for public viewing because it has applied the right principles, and
followed the rules of the industry-standard animation product workflow.
