Abstract

Indonesia, recognized as the nation with the largest Muslim population globally, demonstrates a significant demand for halal-certified products. Nevertheless, the level of compliance among micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) in obtaining halal certification remains relatively low. This is largely due to limited understanding that halal certification not only concerns religious obligations but also serves as an indicator of product quality assurance and consumer confidence. Regional data indicate that in Batam City, many business owners still do not possess halal certificates, mainly due to limited financial resources, insufficient information, and low prioritization of the certification process. Previous studies have attempted to increase understanding through social media, seminars, training, and documentary videos, yet these methods have not effectively reached a wider audience and are less appealing to younger generations who prefer interactive visual content. This research focuses on the development of an educational medium in the form of a 2D animated video, utilizing the Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation, to present information in a clear, engaging, and easily understandable manner. The effectiveness test using the EPIC model resulted in a score of 4.12, indicating a high level of effectiveness in message delivery. The resulting 2D animation aims to function as an alternative learning tool that effectively increases UMKM awareness and knowledge of halal certification, while also supporting efforts to enhance product quality and competitiveness in Indonesia’s growing halal industry.
