Abstract

The adoption rate of digital application at Awal Bros Batam Hospital is relatively low because patients perceive it as complicated to use. Previous video-based educational efforts lacked a comprehensive step-by-step registration guide, imposing a cognitive load on users. This study aims to develop an instructional video as an informational medium to provide patients with clear, step-by-step guidance on how to use the application. The researcher applied the Multimedia Development Life Cycle method, which consists of the concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution stages. The video was designed using a storytelling approach to reduce cognitive load and provide an experience that is relevant to the user’s daily life. During the testing phase, media and subject matter experts conducted a feasibility validation, which was followed by a field trial involving thirty patient respondents. The trial evaluated information clarity, visual presentation, audio quality, video usability, and the patient’s interest in using the application. The evaluation results showed a total feasibility score of 94.36%, indicating that the video is highly feasible. In conclusion, the video is deemed effective as an informational medium that helps patients understand the application’s features and has potential to foster patient interest in utilizing digital services independently.
