Abstract

This study examines the relationship between performance-based remuneration and both employee performance and job satisfaction at Batam Tourism Polytechnic, and compares the relative strength of these two relationships. A quantitative, correlational design was applied, using a saturated sampling technique that covered all employees meeting the study's criteria. Data were gathered through a Likert-scale questionnaire and processed using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, a normality test, and the Pearson Product-Moment correlation, all computed in IBM SPSS. The analysis reveals that performance-based remuneration is positively and significantly associated with both employee performance and job satisfaction, with the link to job satisfaction proving stronger than the link to performance. These results suggest that a remuneration system applied fairly, transparently, punctually, and in line with actual work achievement not only drives better employee performance but also meaningfully strengthens job satisfaction within a vocational higher-education setting.
