Abstract
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft has an Air Cycle Machine system which functions as air expansion and
compression, changing hot air into cold air. This component is very important because if this component
is damaged it will disturb passenger comfort, because it can cause a reduction in speed and will affect
the loss of efficiency. The temperature will increase and the air flow in the aircraft will decrease. The
purpose of this research is to find out the causes of failure in the Air Cycle Machine and find solutions
to solve the problem. The data source is taken based on the Fault Isolation Manual (FIM) reference.
After the author found the problem from the Fault Isolation Manual (FIM), the author carried out a
visual check refers to the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and the problem with the air cycle
machine where the blade on the air cycle machine is stuck and cannot twist because it touches the
compressor casing and to find items and also the location of the damaged part, you can see the Illustrated
Parts Catalog ( IPC), after getting the damaged part, the author replaced the damaged part by looking
at the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) to see how to remove, repair and install and also tested after
carrying out the replacement to ensure the problem had been successfully resolved.
