| dc.description | The research focuses on the fabrication and assembly processes of a holder shock component for industrial spin dry machines. Conducted at PT. Duta Steel Berkah Abadi, the study evaluates how each production stage affects the quality and functional performance of the final component. Key Aspects of the Study Objective: To analyze the fabrication and assembly steps, identify production challenges (such as heat distortion), and ensure the component meets industrial design specifications for vibration damping. Methodology: The research uses a descriptive experimental method involving direct observation of workshop processes, combining qualitative documentation with quantitative dimensional measurements. Materials Used: Stainless Steel 304 Pipe: The primary structural material (initial length of 6000 mm). Stainless Steel 304 Plate: Used for supporting parts like shaft holders/stoppers. Compression Spring: Functions as the core vibration-absorbing and energy-storing element. Manufacturing Stages: Measurement & Marking: Initial layout planning using tape measures and digital calipers. Cutting: Sizing the raw pipe down prior to final finishing. Drilling: Utilizing a milling machine to create precise mounting holes and components. Welding: Employing Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) to join components securely. Finishing (Sanding/Buffing): Smoothing surfaces and removing sharp edges to enhance aesthetics and safety. Results and Conclusion The initial 6000 mm stainless steel pipe was successfully fabricated into a holder shock component with a final length of approximately 499 mm, which remains well within design tolerances based on the target of 500 mm. While the GTAW welding process produced strong, high-quality joints, it caused minor dimensional distortions due to heat input. However, these deviations were minor and did not negatively affect the mechanical function of the part. Ultimately, the combination of proper material selection (Stainless Steel 304) and controlled manufacturing processes successfully produced a durable, stable, and industry-ready holder shock component capable of dampening high-speed machine vibrations. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The development of the manufacturing industry has encouraged the use of modern production machinery to improve efficiency and product quality. One of the machines widely used is the spin dry machine, which utilizes centrifugal force in the material drying process. During operation, this machine generates vibrations, requiring a holder shock component to function as a support and vibration damper to maintain machine stability. This study aims to analyze the fabrication and assembly processes of the holder shock component in a spin dry machine and to determine the effect of each manufacturing stage on the quality of the resulting component. The research employed a descriptive experimental method through direct observation of the fabrication and assembly processes, including measurement, cutting, drilling using a milling machine, GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) welding, and finishing. The materials used were stainless steel 304 pipe and plate, along with a compression spring as a supporting component. The results showed that a stainless steel 304 pipe with an initial length of 6000 mm was successfully fabricated into a holder shock component with a final length of approximately ±499 mm, which remained within the design tolerance limits. The GTAW welding process produced a strong joint, although dimensional distortion occurred due to heat input. Overall, the fabrication and assembly processes were able to produce a holder shock component that met functional requirements and was suitable for application in industrial spin dry machines. | |
