Abstract

This study addresses the limitations of direct (verbal) training methods for new employees operating the Tessa Cutter machine at PT ABC, which resulted in inconsistent understanding and the potential for operational errors (defects). The research aims to design, implement, and test the effectiveness of a motiongraphic-based training video for the Tessa Cutter workflow, utilizing the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Media effectiveness was evaluated using a quasi-experimental approach—specifically a one-group pretestposttest design—involving new employees at PT ABC’s Training Center. Respondents' understanding was measured via multiple-choice tests administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the intervention, with the data analyzed using a paired-sample t-test via IBM SPSS Statistics. The expected outcome of developing this 1–2 minute Full HD video is the provision of an effective self-learning tool that significantly enhances new employee competence, thereby minimizing the risk of wire scratches, reducing tapping errors, and supporting operational productivity at PT ABC.
