dc.description.abstractTo support immersive education in the field of aviation through the VR FLIGHTECH IMMERSION application at Batam State Polytechnic, this study focuses on the development and optimization of 3D models of Boeing 737-400 aircraft components and a hangar. The modeling process was carried out manually using Blender, as the TPPU program does not yet have 3D scanning tools such as photogrammetry, LiDAR, or NeRF. Optimization was performed by reducing polygon complexity, particularly the number of vertices, edges, faces, and triangles, using a simple yet effective method known as linked duplicate (Alt-D), which helps maintain performance without compromising visual quality. The optimized 3D models were integrated into Unity and tested using the Oculus Meta Quest 2 in standalone mode. Performance testing, conducted using the Visual Profiler plugin, showed consistent results achieving an average of 72 FPS across all components. Additionally, a survey involving 32 respondents was conducted using Likert-scale statements to evaluate the model’s visual quality, realism, and overall suitability. The results indicated that the majority of respondents gave positive responses, suggesting that the developed models are appropriate and effective for use in virtual reality environments.
