Abstract
CNC Wirecut machines are widely used in the manufacturing industry, especially in metal stamping processes for producing Die Insert with various profile shapes. During the cutting process, wire breakage (Wirebreak) may occur and disrupt production activities. One method used to reduce Wirebreak is the manual adjustment of the Feedrate Adjustment (FA) value. This study aims to determine the effect of FA settings on reducing Wirebreak during the cutting process of SKD 11 steel Die Inserts using a Mitsubishi FA20P machine. The research was conducted through field observations and 23 experimental trials using two parameter variations, namely FA 3.000 and FA 0.5000. The results showed that FA 0.5000 produced a lower Wirebreak percentage of 31.8% compared to FA 3.000 with 68.2%. In addition to FA settings, cooling water pressure and wire guide cleanliness also affected the stability of the cutting process. Based on the research results, FA 0.5000 was considered more effective in reducing Wirebreak.
