Abstract

Effective technical communication is critical in complex die casting operations within the electronics manufacturing industry, where static instructional media often fail to represent dynamic workflows accurately. This study developed and evaluated a non-verbal audiovisual instructional video for the die casting process at a confidential electronics manufacturing company using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle framework, integrated with cinematographic techniques and motion graphics. Data were collected through field observation, structured rubric-based expert validation involving subject matter experts and a multimedia specialist, and user testing with 30 employees selected via purposive sampling using a Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 12 items with a reliability coefficient of 0.87. Effectiveness was measured using the Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action evaluation model. The results showed that the video achieved an average score of 4.84 out of 5.00, categorized as highly effective. The consistently positive response distribution was attributed to respondent homogeneity as domain experts, contrast effect against previously used static presentation media, and iterative product refinement through two-phase expert validation. These findings confirmed that audio non-verbal multimedia significantly improved technical comprehension compared to conventional static presentations, providing a replicable model for instructional communication in high-noise manufacturing environments.
