Abstract

Environmental cleanliness remains a challenge in the city of Batam, while education on clean-living habits for young children is still largely delivered verbally and is therefore less engaging. This study aims to design a motion graphic as an educational medium for school environmental cleanliness for students of RA Al Hafizh and to analyze its effectiveness using the AIDCA model (Attention, Interest, Desire, Conviction, Action). The design method follows the Luther-Sutopo stages of concept, design (moodboard, character design, and storyboard), material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. The resulting product consists of two 1.5-2 minute motion graphic videos in a flat design style. Effectiveness was measured through a Likert-scale questionnaire completed by 33 respondents, namely accompanying teachers and parents/guardians, based on their observation of student responses. The measurement shows mean scores of 4.21 for Attention, 4.07 for Interest, 4.08 for Desire, 4.23 for Conviction, and 4.23 for Action, all in the effective category, with an overall AIDCA Rate of 4.16. The motion graphic proved effective in increasing student interest in and understanding of the environmental cleanliness message compared to conventional verbal methods.
