Abstract
An inefficient warehouse layout may increase material travel distance and reduce operational efficiency. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of the raw material warehouse layout at PT Casco SEA Batam using the Class-Based Storage method. A quantitative method using a descriptive-comparative method was employed. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and company documents, including warehouse layout, inbound and outbound activities, and material movement frequency. Materials were classified into classes A, B, and C based on movement frequency, followed by the development of a proposed warehouse layout. Layout efficiency was evaluated using the Rectilinear Distance method. The results show that implementing the Class-Based Storage method reduced the total travel distance from 799.5 m to 543 m, representing a reduction of 256.5 m (32.08%). These findings indicate that assigning storage locations according to material movement frequency improves warehouse layout efficiency and supports more effective storage and retrieval activities.
