Abstract

The current promotional media of Politeknik Negeri Batam still relies on outdated visual assets captured using conventional (aerial) drone techniques, which are relatively static and have not fully represented the campus’s recent development. This study applies the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model to design promotional footage for the campus using an FPV (First person view) drone. The Analysis stage identified the need to update the campus’s visual assets, followed by the Design stage, which covered location planning, flight path design, and shot list preparation. The Development stage produced 4K footage using dynamic FPV flying techniques, while the Implementation stage involved distributing the semi-edited footage to the campus’s Public Relations division. Evaluation was conducted through semi-structured interviews with the Public Relations division of Politeknik Negeri Batam and visual experts, analyzed using thematic analysis, resulting in six main themes, of which four required revisions toward the final result. The findings show that the footage was assessed as relevant to the campus’s current condition and generally suitable for use requiring only minor revisions related to duration and shot stabilization. The application of the FPV drone was proven to produce promotional visual assets that are more dynamic and immersive compared to conventional techniques.
