Abstract

Animated film production involves a complex production pipeline in which technical errors may lead to re-rendering, affecting production efficiency. To reduce this issue, PT Kinema Systrans Multimedia implements shot finaling as a quality control stage before the Lighting, Rendering, and Compositing (LRC) process. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing shot finaling in minimizing re-rendering during the production of the animated film Lil Wild, which is used as a case study. A descriptive quantitative method with a survey approach was employed involving 29 LRC artists selected using total sampling. Respondents consisted of LRC artists who had experience working on 3D animation projects implementing shot finaling. Data were collected through questionnaires, while instrument validity and reliability were tested using IBM SPSS Statistics before being analyzed using descriptive statistics based on mean values. The results showed that 21 questionnaire items were valid and the instrument achieved a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.938, indicating excellent reliability. The mean scores for the three research parameters were 4.70 for early detection of technical errors, 4.58 for shot readiness validation, and 4.52 for work process efficiency, all categorized as very effective. These findings indicate that implementing shot finaling effectively supports early detection of technical errors, validates shot readiness before the LRC stage, improves work efficiency, and contributes to minimizing re-rendering in the production process of the animated film Lil Wild.
